Best Sellers in Bar Harbor, Maine By Robert Levin

Sagegrass Gallery

Susan Stanley, Owner
sagegrassgallery.com

Sagegrass Gallery owner Sue Stanley lights up when talking about the “glorious American craft” that graces the shelves of her sleek shop, located smack dab in the center of town. Colorful wall hangings, smooth silk fabrics and glistening sculptures of glass have transformed this former restaurant space into a showcase for decorative handmade objects and sparkling jewels.

Jewelry, handbags, clothing and Maine scenic paintings provide a feast for the eyes within the shop’s brick walls. Champagne punch and other refreshments on cruise ship days make for a welcoming atmosphere.

Sagegrass Gallery’s smiling staff know their products well, along with the history and process behind them. Many of the women working in the shop have been with Stanley since she opened her doors in 2007, making for an easy familiarity and a comfortable environment.
