Customers who enjoy antique and vintage-inspired jewelry are naturally drawn to displays with repurposed elements. With a little merchandising creativity and resourcefulness, retailers are increasing jewelry sales by mixing old and new.

Thrift store finds: A small collection of mail sorters allow necklaces to be hung neatly from a shelf display. Feature similar styles and group the props in multiples to achieve maximum impact.

Chalkboard paint allows incorporation of signage or product information statements into a display area. The simplicity of chalk lettering gives the display a nostalgic feel suitable to vintage presentations.

An old drawer containing paperback books cleverly supports an assortment of earring styles mounted on vintage playing cards. The book pages are folded to fit the height of the drawer and for added stability to balance the cards.

Condiment trays and sectioned tabletop pieces become organizing tools for jewelry displays. Muffin tins and deviled egg plates are especially well-suited to ring displays and rice can be used as filler to stabilize the featured rings or brooches.

For a “craft show” effect, embroidery hoops filled with fabric or lace are well-suited for merchandising non-carded earrings. Use plate stands or easels to secure the hoops in
an upright position.

Books come in many sizes, themes and colors. Larger books stand for taller displays and smaller books stack creating dimension and height. Old books are charming and reflect the classic elements of vintage-inspired products.
