Freshly brewed comfort: Portsmouth Tea making move to new retail locationBy Jennifer KeefeFosters.com

Somersworth, NH — At the Portsmouth Tea Company new retail store, it will be all about comfort, life and beauty.

After three years in the mill building in Somersworth on the Salmon Falls River, owner Marshall Malone has decided to move the business down the street to be more in the public eye.

But the move isn’t just physical.

A new focus on comfort, life and beauty brings to the table a new line of food and coffees and an atmosphere that will welcome those who wish to sit and relax.

“This is a concept for people who, in a sense, have a respect for humanity,” Malone said. “We want to give people an opportunity to come in for a 15-minute escape. Where adults can go and indulge themselves in an economically reasonable way.”

The new building, next to Mattress Giant at 475 High Street, offers more than 2,500 square feet of retail and cafe space, which Malone will utilize for the new concept as well as Portsmouth Tea’s already expansive tea collection.

Malone hopes to open toward the end of the month, with a grand opening in early November.

Nearly 100 teas from all over the world have been the marker of the company since its inception, and Malone said the move is a harbinger of what is to come.

“The Portsmouth Tea Company has always wanted to have a retail presense,” he said. “We had to build our tea line and brand before opening a store … (Somersworth) is our home base. We do plan on franchising the chain. Portsmouth is definitely on the mark as a goal place we want to go.”
