NORTH LAWRENCE —One can’t help but be drawn to local success stories, such as one where hard work and innovation helped a local resident go from crafting items by hand in her basement to opening a warehouse and employing a few dozen people.

That’s Cindy Lowry’s story.

About 25 years ago, Lowry got her start in the Canal Fulton area making dried floral arrangements and traveled to a wholesale show in Columbus to take orders. Next, she added gingerbread cookies to the flowers and orders increased, so her family began to help her out. Soon, the business outgrew her basement in Green.

“I just thought it was cute, and everybody else thought it was cute, too,” Lowry said.

The Blossom Bucket continues to bloom. For the past nine years, the Blossom Bucket, owned by Lowry and her husband, Jim, has been at 13305 Wooster St. NW in North Lawrence. The business has 34 employees. The office is there, as well as a shipping warehouse, a showroom open to wholesale buyers, and an outlet store open to the community.

This spring, the big news is she will open a retail store that will be event-driven. Just like the items she sells with themes for every celebration, the store will be open in time for people to shop for the next big occasion. She plans to open the store May 20 and 21 just before Memorial Day. In the future, it will be open specific dates about once a month for special events and celebrations.
