Another Pig moves into Salem
Salem, MA — The Pig Next Door, a gift shop on Derby Street next to — what else? — In a Pig’s Eye restaurant, had a “soft opening” last week, according to owner Jamie Burns.
Burns grew up in Salem and worked abroad as a men’s fashion designer for most of his career. Recently, he returned to the North Shore and settled in Marblehead.
“It’s nice to be home,” he said, noting that, “My family was one of the first to live in the Willows, in the late 1800s.” As he assembled merchandise for his gift shop, Burns looked for items that, in addition to being useful, beautiful and entertaining, will promote the region he loves.
Burns, who is joined in the venture by partner Sharon Coletti, discussed his new shop with The Salem News.
Where did the idea for this shop come from?
