Gaylord, MI – A long time ago, before everything was awesome, stuff was groovy. Gas was cheap, hair was long, and strangers help up two fingers and said, “Peace, man”, to diffuse arguments. Big, loopy, round flowers and smiley faces were painted on everything, long strands of love beads swung from the necks of chicks wearing bell-bottoms and sunglasses and kids could buy a piece of candy with their leftover lunch money on the way home from school. Groovy.

Remember that candy? Pixie sticks, Atomic Fireballs, Charms Sweet and Sour Pops, Sugar Daddy and Zotz?

So do Matt McIlnay and Patti McIntosh, who have been “best buds” since they were kids in the 1970s, when Matt dated Patti’s sister. They lost touch for a while, after Patti moved Up North in 2001.
