Albany, NY – Caroline Corrigan and Katy Smith had wanted to start a business together since when they had met as freshmen at The College of Saint Rose a decade ago.

So when they spotted an available space a few doors from Spectrum 8 Theatres, they thought they had found the perfect location. So they began to plan what they could do there.

The result is Fort Orange General Store, which will sell handmade jewelry, vintage blankets, stationery, linens, soaps, candles and other gifts. Corrigan and Smith plan a soft opening for May 2 and a formal grand opening party at 6 p.m. May 9 at the 296 Delaware Ave. store.
