Downtown Stores Preparing for Small Business Saturday
Lancaster, OH – Black Friday is a day when shoppers often wait in line to get into malls and stores seeking the hottest bargains. A few days later, shoppers look for deals online with Cyber Monday.
But in between is Small Business Saturday, where small shop owners try to get their piece of the holiday business. The fifth annual shopping event, sponsored by American Express, is Saturday. Locally, 17 downtown businesses have signed up with Destination Downtown Lancaster and will offers deals to shoppers. The event will last all day, but DDL is asking participants to be open at least from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
While shoppers may be familiar with many downtown stores, they may not be as familiar with the gifts shops at the local museums. The Decorative Arts Center of Ohio, the Sherman House, the Georgian and the Ohio Glass Museum all have gift shops and are participating in Small Business Saturday. DDL program coordinator Leslee Hanson said the gift shops are hidden gems for shopping.
