Small Businesses Employ Personal Touch to Attract Holiday ShoppersBy Laura CamperAnnistonStar.com

Heflin, AL – While their customers are contemplating Thanksgiving and Black Friday deals, small businesses have already invited holiday season shopping with festive displays and open houses, some as early as the weekend after Halloween.

Clara Roach, who has owned the Bell Ringer, a flower and gift shop in Heflin for 36 years, said the big box stores such as WalMart, Hobby Lobby or Target put their holiday items out in October. Small businesses aren’t doing anything unusual, Roach said.

The Bell Ringer, along with some of the other gift shops on Ross Street in Heflin, had their holiday open houses the first weekend in November, this year on Nov. 1 and 2.
