Newburyport, MA – A number of shoppers will pick up Christmas presents again this year at the otherwise unremarkable cottage at 205 Northern Boulevard on the Newburyport end of Plum Island.

The cottage is the corporate headquarters, retail outlet, and manufacturing facility for Plum Island Soap Co., one of many small businesses where people will be buying local for the holidays.

The business “is one of my babies,” said founder Michele Diodati, who lives upstairs from the operation she started there in 1999. “We grew up together.”
