Shopping, Corporate Citizenship, and Charitable Good Will come together at the California Gift Show

San Francisco, CA — Retailers can buy African handicrafts, support the Fair Trade Federation and help fund cancer research in Miami – all at the Los Angeles summer edition of the California Gift Show.

All of this will happen through the “Gifts That Give” program that allows the Show’s exhibitors to donate a portion of their sales to a wide range of worthy charitable organizations. Just some of the causes that will benefit from this program are animal rights, environmental protection, medical research and direct care.

The community consciousness of the “Gifts that Give” program is reflected further this year in the Show’s focus on green products, sustainable businesses, and environmental awareness education. The Show will feature 1,000 exhibitors with over 2,500 product lines for an anticipated 20,000 attendees. The Show will run July 18-21, 2008 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

“We all can make a big difference in the world – one purchase at a time,” said Angelia Singleton, Show manager. “The number of socially responsible exhibitors at the Show increases every year, thereby proving that companies can make a difference while still making a profit. It truly is a win-win situation, especially for customers who know that a portion of their shopping dollars is going to bring about a positive change in the world.”

A partial list of California Gift Show exhibitors that donate a portion of their sales, products or other resources to philanthropic causes through their participation at the Show is attached. Organizations that will benefit from exhibitor philanthropy at this year’s Show include Habitat for Humanity, Amnesty International, OXFAM, the Fair Trade Federation, Kiva Loans, and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Foundation. General causes that will be supported include battered women’s shelters, nature centers, public zoos, museums, and global indigenous populations.

The semi-annual California Gift Show is managed by GLM, a dmg world media business. The 147th edition will take place Friday, July 18 – Monday, July 21, 2008, at the Los Angeles Convention Center, attracting 20,000 attendees. Some 1,000 exhibitors will participate throughout ten divisions: At Home; Boutique; EX*TRACTS; Fashion Accessories; Gifts, Etc.; Jewelry (Cash & Carry); Resort, Souvenir & Licensing; Stationery & More, The Vintage Collection and World Style.
