Inspiring Local Chicagoland Artist to be Featured at the 2010 Chicago Market

Chicago, IL – The Chicago Market: Living and Giving® is proud to announce that Frames by Devora will be offering individually hand-painted frames by local Chicagoland artist Devora Fisher, at the upcoming July Market. Fisher, 24, is a Chicagoland artist living with significant developmental disabilities, who creates one-of-a-kind decorative frames using specially designed mittens that create unique patterns and impressions.

At 7 months old, Fisher was diagnosed with Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum and since then has had numerous additional medical problems, requiring 24-hour supervision. Despite her diagnosis, Fisher graduated from New Trier Township High School in 2007, and more recently has begun painting for a cause.

Frames by Devora was created to promote awareness for those with Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum and the state laws pertaining to handicapped individuals. Fisher’s mission is to enable herself and those like her to live with family and lead fulfilling lives as productive members of their community.

“We are so excited to be participating in the July show. Our goal with Frames by Devora is to spread the message that no matter what level someone is at that everyone can do something and everyone has worth,” said Sheila Fisher, Devora’s mother. “Painting is something Devora can do, this is her expression and we are so happy to share it with everyone at The Chicago Market.”

“We are so pleased to work with Devora. Her incredible personal story and unique work born of painstaking effort inspires us all,” said Joan Ulrich, senior vice president, MMPI.

Frames by Devora will be available at The Chicago Market in booth 8-8071 in the Beckman’s™ Handcrafted Show. This is Fisher’s first tradeshow and her booth was specially designed by local designer Mick Santiago and his design team. vFor more information on Devora’s mission or to purchase a frame, please visit: www.framesbydevora.com or www.devorasdream.org.
