Melissa and Doug Graduates from Americasmart Temporaries to Permanent Showroom

Atlanta, GA – Melissa & Doug, known for its classically styled, durably built wooden toys and its commitment to creative play, is opening a new AmericasMart showroom housing expanded displays, giving buyers the opportunity to interact with more than 1,000 Melissa & Doug products, and greatly enhancing the shopping experience.

The new permanent showroom, located in Building 2, Showroom 1736, will debut at the nation’s only global wholesale trade event of 2012: The Atlanta International Gift and Home Furnishings Market Jan. 11-18 (Temporaries: Jan 13-17), with the Atlanta International Area Rug Market featuring the National Oriental Rug Show taking place Jan. 12-15 (Temporaries: Jan. 13-15).

The move to a permanent space in Atlanta – Melissa & Doug’s largest U.S. showroom – represents the company’s commitment to serving the Southeast market and marks a major expansion: The 2,558-square-foot showroom is twice the size of Melissa & Doug’s previous AmericasMart booth size.

Says Melissa Bernstein, who co-founded the company in her future in-laws’ garage over 23 years ago: “We’re enthusiastic about the opportunity to show a huge array of products – nearly our entire line – in a dedicated space where buyers can see, touch and play with the toys we’re so proud of.
