New York’s Newest Division Moves to Javits Center

New York’s Newest, one of ten New York International Gift Fair® (NYIGF®) divisions, will move from Pier 92 to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center for the summer 2012 market. This shift coincides with the repositioning of Artisan Resource™ – a new artisan production-sourcing event for U.S.-based importers, direct import retailers and wholesalers – to run for three days at New York City’s Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 92.

For the summer 2012 NYIGF, New York’s Newest will run Saturday, August 18, through Tuesday, August 21, in the Javits Center’s Hall 1E. Artisan Resource will run Sunday, August 19, through Tuesday, August 21, at Pier 92, with an evening preview for NYIGF exhibitors on Saturday, August 18.

According to Dorothy Belshaw, NYIGF director and GLM senior vice president, “By launching Artisan Resource at Pier 92, which is its ultimate destination in 2013 and beyond, we minimize any opportunity for buyer confusion, and create a dedicated venue for this new and differentiated offering which targets a select audience. At the same time, by moving New York’s Newest to the Javits Center, we create more synergistic product adjacencies and cross-marketing opportunities for the division’s collection of 200 exhibitors new to NYIGF.”

NYIGF’s 10 divisions will continue to have staggered opening and closing dates, with At Home at Pier 94, Handmade Designer Maker and Handmade Global Design and New York’s Newest running Saturday through Tuesday at the Javits Center. Accent on Design, At Home featuring Home Textiles, Baby & Child, EX•TRACTS, General Gift, Personal Accessories featuring Details, Studio and Tabletop will maintain their date pattern and positioning, running Sunday through Wednesday at the Javits Center. The Gourmet Housewares Show at NYIGF, which is presented annually during the summer market, will not be impacted by this change, and will continue to run Sunday through Wednesday at the Javits Center.

All NYIGF divisions and locations will open daily at 9am and will close daily at 6pm. On Tuesday, August 21, At Home at Pier 94, New York’s Newest and the two Handmade divisions at Javits will close at 5pm. On Wednesday, August 22, all remaining divisions at the Javits Center will close at 2pm. (NOTE: A detailed listing of division locations and dates follows and is available online at http://www.nyigf.com/theshow/dateshours.aspx.)

Artisan Resource will run Sunday, August 19, through Tuesday, August 21, at Pier 92 with a special VIP preview on Saturday, August 18, from 4:00PM -7:00PM. The show, to be held semi-annually in conjunction with NYIGF, will present a curated collection of overseas artisan enterprises offering handmade production resources and products, at export terms from country of origin. Information is available online at www.artisanresourceny.com.

NYIGF is the nation’s premier gift, home and lifestyle marketplace, showcasing an extraordinary breadth and depth of design-driven home fashion products and complementary giftware, with some 2,800+ companies, 400 product categories and 100,000 lines. Some 35,000 attendees from all 50 states and more than 80+ countries worldwide are expected. Information and registration is available online at www.nyigf.com.
