Sold Out Ex-Tracts Shows Growth in Organic & Natural Resources

Natural and organic personal care lines will be well-represented at the sold-out summer edition of EX•TRACTS®, one of ten divisions of the New York International Gift Fair® (NYIGF), running Sunday, August 19, through Wednesday, August 22, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Nearly 30 percent of the 100 exhibitors, most notably Farmhouse Fresh, Kneipps and J.R. Watkins Naturals, supply “green” resources in fragrance, skincare and bath and body care.

“Sustainability continues to be of critical importance to consumers in this product category, and nearly a third of EX•TRACTS exhibitors are presenting ‘green’ lines,” said Melissa Engongoro, sales manager. “In addition to natural and organic products, buyers will find increased concentration of fragrance and aromatherapy.”

Newcomers to EX•TRACTS this summer will be showcasing a wide array of organic and natural soaps, as well as bath and body products, skin care and home fragrance lines. First-time exhibitors include: ausganica (organic skin care); Laboratory of Flowers (luxury bath and body); Love Nature NYC (artisanal natural soaps, bath and body products); Mt. Sapola USA, Inc. (natural, handmade soap and aromatherapy); Not Soap, Radio (bath, body, beauty); Olivia Care (olive oil natural products); and Royall Fragrances (fragrance).

Along with these first-time participants, EX•TRACTS also welcomes several companies returning after a hiatus from the New York Market. These returning exhibitors include: D.L. (home fragrance, candles, aromatherapy); Kat Burki (organic personal care); and Lady Primrose-Fragrant Luxuries for Everyday Life (bath, body and fragrance). In addition, Crabtree & Evelyn, the international brand for skin care and bath and body lines, is relocating into EX•TRACTS from NYIGF’s General Gift.

In order to showcase more new products and innovative lines at market, several returning exhibitors are increasing their exhibit space for the summer 2012 market: Blithe and Bonny (handcrafted candles, soap, bath and body); C.O. BIGELOW (apothecary); Nest Fragrances (candles, home fragrance, bath and body); and Royal Apothic (fragrance, bath and body).

EX•TRACTS and the Day Spa Association will continue their partnership by presenting a special seminar during NYIGF. “Turning Trends into Dollars,” will be offered at the Javits Center on Sunday, August 19, from 3:30PM – 4:30PM. Allan Share of the Day Spa Association and Patti Biro of Patti Biro and Associates will outline trend-based growth opportunities in the personal care market, connected with gender-based selling, green and organic product trends, niche marketing and more. As an added bonus, seminar attendees will have the opportunity to join the DSA for $114.50 (half of the annual $229 membership). Seminar tickets, which are $20 in advance and $25 onsite, are available online at www.nyigf.com/programs.

The Best New Products Awards will return to EX•TRACTS to recognize excellence in five categories – Bath & Body, Beauty Accessory, Cosmetic & Fragrance, Natural/Organic and Packaging – along with one overall “Best of Show” distinction. Winners and finalists, which are selected by a panel of editors based on innovative product concept, industry need, aesthetic appeal, creative use of materials/technology and creative packaging, will be announced on Tuesday, August 21.

One of ten carefully-curated divisions of the New York International Gift Fair, EX•TRACTS offers a targeted mix of cosmetics, perfumes, skincare, bath & body care, beauty accessories, hair care, natural/organic products and well-being lines, alongside thousands of complementary gift, lifestyle and home resources.

NYIGF is the nation’s premier gift, home and lifestyle marketplace, with 2,800+ exhibiting companies featuring an extraordinary breadth and depth of design-driven home fashion products and complementary giftware. Some 35,000 attendees from all 50 states and more than 80 countries worldwide are expected. Information and registration is available online at www.nyigf.com.
