18b Installation Showcases Las Vegas Artists & Designers at Gift+Home at Las Vegas Market

A juried collection of handmade and one-of-a-kind works by more than 15 Las Vegas artists and designers will be showcased, and offered for sale, in a special “18b” temporary installation at the winter GIFT+HOME at Las Vegas Market, January 28 – February 1, 2013.

This first-of-its-kind partnership between International Market Centers (IMC) and 18b, a non-profit association representing the Las Vegas Arts District community of artists, designers, and makers, will be presented in a 2,500 square foot showroom at Las Vegas Market, alongside a dynamic collection of home décor suppliers on C3.

“Las Vegas is well-known for gaming and other attractions, but the city also has a vibrant community of artists and designers,” said Dorothy Belshaw, president of Gift & Home Décor, International Market Centers (IMC). “We are delighted to partner with 18b to showcase local talents.”

A wide variety of art, sculptures, custom furnishings and boutique items will be offered for sale during the market. Participating artists include Alios Lighting; Assemblage Studios, Eric Strain; Brett Wesley Gallery, Brett Wesley; CoLab, Amy Finchem; Hayley Hunter, Hayley Hunter; Inside Style, Jill Abelman; Retro Vegas, Bill Johnson; Todd VonBastiaans & ByanMcCormick; Trifecta, Marty Walsh; and Vexed by Design, Marlene Reid.

“Las Vegas is so much more than neon lights,” said Marc Abelman, president of 18b. “Discover what the locals already know—the soul of the Las Vegas community can be found in the 18b Arts District.”

Arising from the original 18 blocks designated as the Las Vegas Arts District, the 18b Las Vegas Arts District Neighborhood Association serves to encourage the creative development of artists and designers. The neighborhood, which is a pedestrian-oriented community located in historic downtown Las Vegas approximately half a mile from the World Market Center Las Vegas, is home to an eclectic mix of galleries, boutiques, working studios and creative design space. The neighborhood is bordered by Commerce Street, Hoover Avenue, 4th Street, Las Vegas Boulevard and Colorado Avenue.
