Debuts of European F/W 15/16 Collections, Return of KOTRA, And New Trend Partnership Bring Energy and Excitement to Upcoming LA Textile Show at the CMC

The Fall/Winter 2015/2016 Los Angeles International Textile Show will take place from Monday-Wednesday, September 29-October 1, 2014 at the California Market Center (CMC) in downtown Los Angeles. Hosted in the Penthouse, on the 13th floor, and the Fashion Theater, in the Main Lobby, show hours are from 9:00am-5:00pm on Monday and Tuesday, and 9:00am-4:00pm on Wednesday. Highlights include the return of the Korean Pavilion, featuring KOTRA, as well as the official Trend Forum, co-curated by new trend forecasting partner Promostyl, and an increase in the participation of European mills.

Long time exhibitor Howard Bobis of Friday Fabrics represents many European mills, including countries such as France and Italy. “Trends start in Europe. My Fall collections have many unique fabrics that are not made anywhere else,” Bobis says of his mills. “They will be shown in LA for the first time.” Bobis has been showing at LA Textile for close to 15 years and continues to return due to the success his mills have at every Show. “I always open new accounts at the LA Textile Show because it is such a great broad and diverse market.”

In addition to the French and Italian mills of Friday Fabrics, there has been an increase in the amount of textile exhibitors participating in the European Pavilion. “Our European Pavilion has grown since the last Show,” says LA Textile Spokesperson Rebecca Aguilar. “We are seeing a great deal more of mills from European countries such as Germany, Spain, and the UK. We also have an increase in prestigious fabric companies from countries like Japan and Turkey.”

Not only will attendees discover an increase of European textile companies, they will be pleased to see the return of the Korean Pavilion presented by KOTRA in the Fashion Theater at the CMC. “We are happy to be returning for our 9th year at the LA Textile Show,” says Hannah Lee, Trade Consultant for KOTRA. “The rate of return for our Korean exhibitors is greater at the LA Textile Show than any other show. They see continued success year after year.” Exhibitors include Sungmin Enterprise, Intex, Duksung P&T, K S H Corporation, Rohan Fabric, Kyunwon, Korea Textile Center, Hemosu Textile, CNC Fashion, Ventex, Keumbo Textile Co. The LA Textile Show will also host the official Trend Forum in the Main Lobby of the CMC, co-curated by renowned trend forecasting partner Promostyl. Promostyl will provide the Show with the key trend directions for the F/W 15/16 season. The Paris-based agency will also play a role in continuing to bring a European perspective to the West Coast this Show. “We could not think of a better place than the LA Textile Show to present our ideas and inspire the creation of future garments and products,” says Promostyl Trend Consultant, Janna Stark.

Designers who attend the Show are encouraged to seek inspiration from the four macro-trends presented by Promostyl including utilitarian-chic “Block;” cozy, sensitive “Tenderness;” sophisticated, sporty-luxe “Details;” and colorful, eccentric “Animism.”

In addition to textile and design resources, the Show will offer attendees numerous perks and hospitality, as well as a packed schedule of complimentary seminars. Seminars will be presented by industry experts such as Promostyl, PeclersParis, Fashion Snoops, Design Options, Color Portfolio, Global Purchasing Co, Fashion Business Inc, Lenzing, FAB Counsel, California Fashion Association, Adobe for Fashion, and V Mora.

Attendees and exhibitors are also invited to kick off the first day of the Show with a complimentary wine bar presented by JM International Group in Aisle 100 of the European Pavilion featuring wine from Italy, France, and Spain. JM International Group represents an impressive list of textile companies including Bel Maille, Bella Tela, Bennett Silks, Confetti, Corti Marcello, Darquer, Mahlia Kent, Paultex, Tiss Et Teint, Twelve, Vema, and 496 Fabric Lab.
