GCA’s 27th Annual LOUIE Awards Celebrate Artistic Elegance; Recognize Best of the Best in Greeting Cards, Social Stationery Worldwide

The Greeting Card Association (GCA) is proud to announce the opening of the Call for Entries for its 27th Annual LOUIE Awards. The LOUIEs recognize, reward, and celebrate outstanding design, editorial, and creativity in greeting cards, invitations, and announcements published by companies large and small throughout the world.

“This year’s theme of ‘The Roaring LOUIEs’ captures the timeless splendor, excitement, and flair of our industry with artistic elegance,” said Tina Benavides, 27th LOUIE Awards chair and vice president at American Greetings Corporation.

There are a total of 59 categories in which submissions can be entered, with two new categories, “Baby” and “LGBT,” added to reflect the growth in these areas. Categories also include Birthday, Valentine’s Day, and Rising Star. Most categories are comprised of two price points: $4 and below and above $4.

“The LOUIE Awards honor the artistic and creative contributions the greeting card and social expression community brings to our everyday life,” said Steve Doyal, GCA president and senior vice president at Hallmark Cards. “The awards celebrate the powerful, emotional impact the simple gesture of sending a card and personal note has on both the sender and the recipient,” he said.

The entry deadline is December 5. A panel of industry experts will judge the entries in early February, coinciding with NYNow® in New York City, with finalists announced in mid-February. The judges evaluate submissions based on five criteria: originality, impact, design excellence, “sendability,” and value. Winners will be revealed and celebrated at the LOUIE Awards Gala on the opening night of the National Stationery Show®, May 17, 2015, in New York City.

Additional information about the 27th LOUIE Awards and details on entering submissions is available at www.greetingcard.org.
