Returning and New Brands at The CMC Report Brisk Traffic and New Accounts During LA Fashion Market

The Spring 15 Edition of the 2014 Los Angeles Fashion Market at the California Market Center (CMC) took place from October 12-15. Many exhibitors at TRANSIT Shoe Show and SELECT Contemporary Tradeshow reported opening new accounts, while brands at Los Angeles Men’s Market saw an increase in retailer foot traffic.

“It was our first time showing at SELECT,” said Xavier Blum of Artesano Hats. “We saw buyers from all over the West Coast including Colorado, Idaho, and Arizona. We even wrote orders for international stores in Japan. Overall, traffic was good and we had a great experience.”

Key retailers who attended included Nasty Gal, Nordstrom, Ambiance, Kitson, Modcloth, Apricot Lane, Lulus Boutique, Papillon Rouge, Brigade LA, Pacific Sunwear, Red Balloon, Shoe Biz, Fred Segal, Marshalls, MGM Resorts, Zappos, Duck and Dressing, American Rag & CIE, Atelier Femme, LF Stores, Barneys, and many more.

Also new to SELECT were designers from the Philippines, Melchor Guinto, Pia Gladys Perey, and Charles Gua. The trio showed a preview of their collections during Monday night’s International Fashion Tour Runway Show. “We are extremely happy with the results of the Show,” said Guinto. “It was our first time showing here and we have received good feedback. We made many contacts that ranged from buyers and press to stylists and bloggers.”

Additionally, returning exhibitors at SELECT Contemporary Tradeshow, confirmed reports of steady traffic. “We had a really good Show,” said Denise Yates, Account Executive for Hobo Bags. “We saw buyers from Montana, Washington, and Oregon. We stayed busy throughout the Show writing both for immediates, as well as the Spring season.”

Likewise, exhibitors at TRANSIT Shoe Show, LA’s longest dedicated footwear show, reported that at this edition of the Show, new accounts were opened. “We enjoy showing at TRANSIT because every time we exhibit at the Show we seem to open new accounts,” said Mike Balzer, West Coast Territory Manager of G.H. Bass & Co. “Showing consistently here provides us with new business. We opened many new accounts this Show.”

Los Angeles Men’s Market (LAMM) also made its return, running concurrently with LA Fashion Market. President of The NTWRK Agency and Co-Organizer of LAMM, Kellen Roland, reported the success of the Show, which included the participation of key brands 10 Deep, Asics, Blvck Scvle, Brixton, G-Shock, Goorin Bros, Herschel Supply Co., Huf, Native Shoes, Nixon, Obey, Poler, Raen, Stance, Zanerobe and over 100 hundred others. “The Show established itself as a must attend event and was an overwhelming success on all levels,” said Roland.

LAMM also brought in notable retailers such as Revolve, Active, American Rag, Boarders, Kingswell, Zebraclub, Zumiez, NO Season, Selfridges, Voyager, Milk Made, Stade Co, Surfstitch, Tillys, Xtreme Boardshop, Seed Peoples Market, Hemingway & Pickett, and many more.

Permanent showrooms at the CMC also had a successful Market. “This was a great Market for us,” said David Perlman of International Brands in America. “Our sales are up 40 percent from last October. Our newest line, Beautiful Stories, was popular with the retailers who stopped by. We had buyers from several different divisions of Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor, and many others.”

Dates for Summer 15 LA Fashion Market are Sunday-Wednesday, January 11-14, 2015.
