Trey and Susy Allen met two decades ago on the University of Georgia’s campus.

He was a freshman Delta Tau Delta fraternity member studying small-business administration, and she was a junior Sigma Kappa sorority member learning the silversmith trade when she agreed to go to homecoming with him.

Four years later, the two married and moved to Trey’s hometown of Augusta to start a life together. Trey went to work at the family business, Handyland, and Susy worked as special events coordinator for Books-A-Million.

When Trey sold the business, the couple decided to enter another partnership: operating a toy shop.

“It’s a fun atmosphere. We work well opposite each other because I handle the business part of it mostly and I can work on sales, and she handles the art and the customer service,” Trey said.
