Kalamazoo, MI – The Wild Goose Chase is what some would call camera-ready for the holiday season.

Fully decorated Christmas trees adorn the front and west portions of the 22-year-old business’ sales floor.

Bing Crosby and a potpourri of holiday-season regulars crooned softly over store loudspeakers. And through the final days of holiday shopping this past week, its staff was helpful, but generally too busy for conversations that didn’t involve a sale.

Welcome to a better for holiday shopping season small area retailers.

It might not have been great, (no one crunches revenue growth numbers for local retailers), but it was apparently a better one than last year, and it signals a marked improvement since the Great Recession sucked a lot of the magic out of what traditionally has been a holly jolly season for retailers.
