Off-the-Wall Sales! By Poornima Apte

If you’re running short of merchandising room, or even looking for prime selling space, don’t ignore your walls. The last issue of GIFT SHOP looked at how walls can covey your store’s marketing message. Here we look at how they can effectively and directly sell merchandise.

Retailer Patti Harbin of In-Courage in San Antonio, TX, knows these crosses underscore the uplifting message her store conveys. They are great wall décor and the walls serve as a great space from which to sell the home décor products.

Retailer Cynthia Sutton of The Silver Barn in Columbus, TX, uses this creative wall display to showcase the place settings in her weddings department. Perfect for brides-to-be to just say yes.

When customers linger at the cash wrap, let their eyes check out the goods for sale on the wall behind it. Retailer Patti Harbin did just that. These signs not only add a touch of pizzazz to the walls, they also grab customers’ attention, potentially increasing sales.
