Cypress Garden Combines Boutique with Landscaping BusinessBy Robert WalchTheCalifornian.com

Monterey, CA – More than just a nursery, Cypress Garden in Monterey has expanded over the years to reflect the interests and expertise of its two owners. Ray Sumida and his sister, Ann Tsuchiya, operate the business started by their parents, Yukio and Mariko Sumida, in the 1950s.

Besides offering a variety of plants, shrubs and native drought-resistant species that complement Ray’s landscaping business, the nursery carries a wide range of gardening supplies and decorative items. The main building also has been expanded to reflect Ann’s interest in gift boutique goods, such as greeting cards, household items, some clothing, books, and creative toys, games and children’s literature.

Off the beaten path, the nursery is tucked away one street off Fremont Street on Perry Lane. The easiest way to find Cypress Garden is to turn at the street along the side of Myrick Photographic at 598 Fremont and follow it to the nursery’s parking lot.
