Hot ‘Sweet PETatoes’ Brand Drives Pet Memory Making Category

South San Francisco, California—Solonics, Inc. recently signed a licensing agreement with noted Midwest illustrator Gail Green to create and distribute the Sweet PETatoes line of memory products, designed exclusively for dog and cat pet owners under their SolonicStyle division. They are currently developing a program to further expand the Sweet PETatoes brand into the stationery, giftware, pet and partygoods industries.

Product Line Specifically Designed for People That Love Their Pets

According to the American Pet Products Manufacturer’s Association (APPMA), pet spending in the U.S. will reach $38.4 billion this year. “And pets are increasingly being treated as members of the family,” states Marketing Director, Penny Wise. While American families have traditionally photographed their children, pet “parents” may also be spending as much time and money capturing images of their animal companions, as well.

The Sweet PETatoes product line consists of Photo Scrapbook Kits, Photo Album & “Brag Books”, Photo Calendar Scrapbook Kit, Note Pads, Gift Wrap and Gift Bags, Pet Record Keeper & Organizer and Memory Box created to store all of your pet’s special keepsakes and photos.

Artist Takes a Unique Approach

“The Sweet PETatoes brand was created to celebrate the timeless bond between pets and their families by capturing the way animal lovers feel about their furry friends in a way that is both unique and on target,” states Green. A lifetime animal lover, Green studied art for over a decade, beginning her formal art training at the Chicago Art Institute Junior School and continuing at the University of Illinois-Champaign in the College of Fine and Applied Arts and the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. Widely recognized in the Craft/Hobby industry, Green’s designs have more recently expanded into other venues including disposable tableware and veterinary scrubs.

The full line of Sweet PETatoes products will be on exhibit (booth #955) at the National Stationery Show from May 20-23, 2007 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. For more information about the Sweet PETatoes brand and product line, visit solonicstyle.com or call 650-583-5833 .
