G. DeBrekht Unveils 2012 Line at Winter Markets
The 2012 line from G. DeBrekht Artistic Studios includes two unique programs that will set it apart within the gift industry.
The first is that G. DeBrekht is bringing the majority of its Old World folk art line to its California studios, where for the past 10 years have been creating the first original artwork for reproduction and in 2010 started a new experienc using American painters. It is the goal of G. DeBrekht president and creative director André Gabricht to eventually produce the line in the United States.
“Having complete creative and quality control will enable us to do many things that are currently not possible,” said Gabricht. “We have many talented artists in the United States, and they are very enthusiastic to be able to work with decorative art. The quality of each piece is our highest priority, and having the intricate painting in our own studios allows us immediate and complete quality control.”
Gabricht’s vision is to eventually bring the reproduction process to the United States. He says he does not believe the cost of production stateside will significantly increase pricing and the benefits to the retailer will be considerable.
The second major announcement is a custom program for retailers that enable them to add personalized information – words, an image, or both – to G. DeBrekht product and purchase the customized pieces in small quantities at a reasonable cost. The program is possible because the production will be completed in the G. DeBrekht studios.
“We tested the custom program in the 4th quarter of 2011 and the response was excellent. We offered ornaments from our Treasured Memories collection, with delivery in time for the busy Holiday traffic,” explained André Gabricht. “We e-mailed the announcement one day and the following day, we were inundated with orders. This is a program our customers have been asking for, and now that we are able to make it happen. Going forward, we will offer customization on Santas, angels, ornaments and other decorative accessories in our line. We are poised to make customization a major part of our future business.”
To show the detail that goes into every piece, Gabricht demonstrates the creative process in a new video that is available on YouTube http://youtu.be/3VZOby39iZs. From the depth of the eyes to the expressive mouth, an individual personality is handcrafted into every G. DeBrekht creation, he explains – giving the recipient a gift to be treasured.
The 2012 line is filled with new introductions that include the exclusive Surprise Santa Collection; brilliant new sculpted and glass ornaments; new additions to the Traveling Santa series; and more than150 new introductions in all.
Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, so G. DeBrekht creates an Irish Santa to honor the Emerald Isle all year long. Wearing a green robe and seated on a sheep, Santa carries a basket of coins that is a secret box just large enough to place a shamrock or other memorable keepsake. Titled Luck of the Irish Santa, the piece is 6-inches tall.
A majestic folk art angel portrays the Nativity on her robe and is titled The First Christmas. The beautifully painted scene will be executed in the California studios of G. DeBrekht, as will painting on most of the 2012 introductions.
G. DeBrekht introduces a new series of illustrated Santas and Holiday character ornaments, with 12 pieces in the initial launch. All painting of the illustrations and details will be done in the California studios.
Buyers attending Winter Markets will have the first opportunity to see the complete 2012 line and place early orders. The G. DeBrekht Corporate Showroom is Bldg 1 Floor 20 – #A12A in the Atlanta Gift Mart.
